Reader x EJ where Elijah is only a year old or so and when Jack goes on his hunts, he's usually gone for a few days minimum, and Elijah is just heartbroken the entire time because he can't find his dad :(
He doesn't understand the concept of time so he thinks his dad just disappeared :(
Reader: Desperately trying to find Elijah; "Eli, kiddo? Where are ya? It's time for you to take your nap."
Elijah: Staring at the front door with tears in his eyes
He's tired, he misses his dad, and he has no idea where his dad could have possibly went
Reader ends up finding him, because Elijah would paw at the door (Kinda like a dog or cat waiting for its human to arrive)
Elijah: Sniffing and pawing at the door "Pa :("
He ends up quite literally crying himself to sleep while reader rocks him in their arms, trying to calm him down
And when EJ finally comes back home, Elijah is skeptical as EJ has been gone for such a long time (In Elijahs eyes at least) and Elijah is lowkey is convinced his dad got replaced by some alien or something;
Elijah: Sniffing EJ skeptically "Pa?"
Jack: Picking Elijah up carefully "Mhm, Its pa."
Elijah: ":0 !!! PA!"
I love your requests so much you have SUCH a good eye for prompts, youâre the one RUNNING the Father!EJ series đ«¶đ»

One thing you had to get used to when dating Jack was the fact that there were times where he was gone for days. You knew he didnât eat normally per-se, and you also knew it wasnât the most ethically sourced so of course he couldnât get it in town. Not without putting your little family at risk.
That didnât make it too much easier though. Not when you would faintly smell him on the empty side of the bed, not when you sometimes call out to him out of habit, and definitely not when your son missed him.
Its late, around 10pm and your gliding from room to room trying to find your kidâ i mean heâs only so big so he couldnât have gone far, but for some reason you couldnât find him.
âEli?â You call out, padding to the living room before pausing in the doorway.
Found him.
There he was, standing right at the door with fat tears welled up in his eyes. He was gazing up at the doorknob, gently swiping at the door, ears pinned to his head and his tail swishing behind him, âpapaâŠâ it comes out soft.
Your eyes soften as you take in the site. This. Is what hurt the most sometimes. Jack had been gone for a little less than a week at that point.
âBaby..â you walk over and scoop him up into your arms, using your free hand to gently wipe away the tears that had fallen. âPapa will be back soon, alright?â
You bring him to his room, sitting down in a chair Jack had gotten and placed at his bedside for times like this. âYou know papa has to go get his food and sometimes it justâŠâ you hesitate, wondering how to word it for a child brain, âSometimes he just needs to take a little road trip to get his food, but thats alright! Heâll always come back though!â
You try to cheer him up, gently rocking him back and forth in the chair. That night was filled with nothing but quiet crying and sniffling which finally fell into silence as Elijah drifts off to sleep.
Not even a full day later, youâre sitting with him in the living room, lego blocks that Jack had procured from somewhere scattered all over the carpet. Soft giggles echo through the cabin, which was cut abruptly short by the front door swinging open and Jack stepping inside.
Elijah shakily jumps to his feet, swaying a little as he catches his balance. He looks up at Jack with curious glossy eyes. Slowly taking a couple steps back, he grips onto your shirt, gazing back over at Jack with hesitancy in his eyes.
He looked the man in the doorway up and down, ears pinned to his head and lip quivering.
Jack cocks his head to the side, slinging the bag from over his shoulder and setting it to the side before holding his arms out.
âPaâŠ?â Elijah mumbles out shyly, letting his hand drop from your shirt before taking a couple steps foreword. Jack slides off his mask, shooting his son a little crooked grin.
âMhm⊠itâs Pa, my little spawn.â Elijahs eyes light up, tail rapidly waving behind him as he trots up to Jack with his arms waving up in the air.
âPapa, Papa!!â He giggles out, damn near jumping into his fatherâs grasp. Shoving his head into Jacks neck, he lets out soft little purrs as he bounces from absolute joy in his arms.
