he can't very well deny a lady's wishes , can he ? especially when there was something almost mischievous about this ; childish but thrilling and all too enticing for it , having met haru at night with no prior intention , only coincidence , himself having merely escaped the horrible stare of the daylight sun and indulging now in a little shut-eyed , nocturnal walk and flight .
the public garden sprawls out before the two of them --- deserted but still teeming with life , colorful blooms intertwining themselves between the gaps of stone walls and steel trellises , supping silently on moonlight glows . dark drifts quietly behind her , tame as a lamb as he steps through red and white roses ; lily and lavender , chrysanthemum and morning glory . one hand gingerly takes away the head of a honeysuckle as he passes it by , and he brings it to his lips thereafter ; shuts his eyes to a nectar so sweet , it makes him smile .
' ... should i make you a crown ? ' a floral wreath that suited her ; it would have been simple work for his deft hands to tie stems into knots and to select only the best perfumes , the most beautiful flowers . there was nothing else that his hands or his heart would have desired , otherwise --- he would leave the green , growing things as they were , far more content , perhaps , to watch haru gather great bushels and petals of bliss up into her own arms , instead . ' tell me your favorite flower , madame , and i'll happily fetch it for you . '
