You were destined for me, but I can’t help but wonder if it was never truly about love. Perhaps it was always about the lesson, the growth, or maybe even the punishment. The universe has a way of throwing people into our lives not always to heal us, but to break us open in ways we never imagined. Maybe I was meant to learn something, to face something, or perhaps to endure something I wasn’t prepared for. In the end, I don’t know if you were the gift I hoped for or the challenge I needed.
It feels like fate played its hand, leading me to you with promises of connection and understanding, but what I found instead was confusion and pain. Maybe I was never meant to feel the comfort of what I thought love was, but instead to learn the harder, colder truths about myself and others. Every moment with you, while filled with moments of warmth, was also riddled with lessons I didn’t want to learn and wounds I didn’t want to open.
I sometimes question whether I was drawn to you by my own desires or by something deeper, something that had nothing to do with happiness and everything to do with growth. If I’m being honest, I often wonder if this was meant to be a punishment—one I didn’t ask for but was handed anyway. There are times when the pain feels too much to bear, and I can’t help but think that maybe this was the universe’s way of showing me something I needed to see, something I couldn’t avoid.
But maybe that’s the thing about life—sometimes we don’t get the answers we want. We only get what we need, even when it doesn’t make sense, even when it hurts. And as much as I wish we could have been a beautiful, easy story, I understand now that you were part of a much bigger narrative—one of lessons, growth, and yes, maybe even punishment. Still, I carry what I’ve learned, even if it came at a cost.
