These are very popular in Senegal and the closest thing I could relate these to are empanadas. They are usually stuffed with onions and (spicy) ground beef and can come in a variety of different sizes.

It looks noticeably similar to the empanadas popularly consumed in Latin America, but the flavor is a bit different, notably with garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, and possibly other flavors that I can’t recall. It also had a bit of a citrusy flavor. I believe it was tuna that was included in this patty.
