Starring: Jackky Bhagnani, Neha Sharma & Farooque Sheikh.
'YOUNGISTAAN' with a superb concept in mind but poorly Presented on Screen. Jacky Bhagnani is mist cast in the film. Neha Sharma is equally annoying. Farooque sheikh had little to do but did his job best. Pathetic music and a lousy screenplay makes the 134 mins runtime a bore. The second half promises some meat in bits n parts but lacks the real zing & a good screenplay which is important in films like these.
Abhimanyu Kaul (Jackky Bhagnani) & Anvita Chauhan (Neha Sharma) are in a live in relationship in Tokyo, Japan. Their Friend Zafar (Kayoze Irani) is also living with them in their same apartment. The First 20 minutes is nothing but Japan Tourism while Drunk and with a Bollywood’s one of the most annoying song Tanki Tanki. One Day Abhimanyu receives a call Stating his father Dashrat Kaul (Boman Irani) lying on the death bed, who is also the prime minister of INDIA. Before Dying Dashrat tells Abhimanyu to Join his party ABKP (AKHIL BHARTIYA KRANTI PARTY) and his PA Akbar (Farooque Sheikh) will take care and also guide you. What Follows is a series of Incidents which focus more on Abhimanyu’s Private life rather than focusing more on the political drama, I mean to an extent it is fine, but majority of the film deals with that, and leads to a much predictable climax.
A Superb Concept, Which is Magical, New, Inspiring and most importantly promising.
The First half of the film, which actually began after 20 minutes, is actually very good, and nicely established to the midpoint.
Farooque Sheikh once again and for the final time on screen is exceptionally well, and no doubt that he was, he is one of the most versatile actors in our country.
Jacky Bhagnani has improved a lot in acting since his first movie, F.A.L.T.U.
Despite a superb concept on paper, the film falters big time in its screenplay during second half, It would have made wonders to the film, and this film could have emerged as one of the best films of the year, but the makers chose not do so.
Songs & music are annoying to the last nerve of your brain. BIG Disappointment
Neha Sharma seriously should learn acting lessons.
Support cast is under developed.
Lacks the feel of a political drama/thriller movie.
Various Subplots, which only contribute to the runtime of the film till 134 minutes.
The film is good only in bits n parts. Watch it only for Farooque Sheikh’s performance, and a brilliant concept being wasted, and start to imagine your story how you could have made the film with this concept.
