                                                SHE STILL ISN’T COMFORTABLE  in the Fire Nation - just being here feels wrong. It feels like a betrayal of her mother & of her people.   ( THE WAR IS OVER, KATARA! THERE IS NO NEED TO HARBOR ANY MORE ANGER ---- but why do I seethe like a sea in a winter storm? why am I boiling beneath my skin? )   But finding herself here is becoming an almost commonplace occurrence - what with all of them having these new responsibilities that come with this new world.

     We helped win the war. We helped save the world. I don’t know if any of us thought about how would we need to help rebuild. 

     She sits on a balcony, the night having fallen long ago, & thinks. Or, tries not to think. There’s too much to think about. 

     Then, there’s a weight on her shoulders. Not metaphorical, but actual. She looks up, blinks at the shadows, & finds the half-silhouetted figure of Suki - it takes Katara moment to recognize her, since she isn’t in her full Kyoshi Warrior garb, but once Katara pulls herself out of her thoughts & back to the present, she smiles. 

     She pulls the blanket now draped over her shoulders closer. She hadn’t noticed that it had grown chilly.
