Did you guys (the mods) ever have to deal with someone lying about making a design or having permission to donate it? Or having someone change their mind about donating a design?
Hello! So we were usually really in-depth when suspicious about a submitted design, so I can't recall any moments while I (Arkie) was on the mod team that someone submitted something that didn't belong to them. One time someone submitted the Skype snail and neither me nor the other mod realized until after posting the batch, though The only real issue we've had is someone selling a design for real money.
id like to run fanpro2, an unofficial successor. its starting from 1 and will be tagged fanpro2 to differentiate it from the original. it will be the same kind of public character roster.
Hello, @scumbigulaā! Sorry for the late response.Ā There already is something that exists like that,Ā actually,Ā but it is also on hiatus.
If you want to make your own public use design blog, I can give you some advice. Please donāt use a name that includes FanPro in it, though! Feel free to take inspiration from the name and our FAQ if youād like, however, like how ComPro (Community Project) did.
Make sure you clearly state that all designs submitted are open to the public to use as inspiration and do whatever they wish with it, including using the character design for commercial use (say, making stickers, ect. A member of the FanPro community and a mod of ComPro has actually been using a handful of designs for a game they are creating!) The original submitter cannot sue someone for using their design(s) that have been accepted by your project.Ā
Make sure no signatures are on the submitted artwork, as well, and make sure to check that it is the submitterās OWN work and is not a character that already exists in something. Legally, a signature in artwork submitted is open for other people to use, as it is considered part of the design. (One time we had the Skype snail submitted to us and neither me nor the other mod at the time realized and the community had to tell us LOL.)
Running FanPro, especially towards the last 1000 designs, was EXTREMELY STRESSFUL. I cannot emphasize this enough! š© Also, if you have multiple mods, the more you have, the harder it is to be organized and agree on things. Despite it being tough, we worked best with just two mods. It helped we were bestfriends, too.
Donāt be discouraged if you donāt get a lot of traction and designs submitted to your project at first or for a while-- FanPro was extremely lucky to get the attention it did, it having been created at just the right time and seen by the right people. Over the years it had died down in activity, though.Ā
I will absolutely promote your project on the blog and in the official FanPro discord server to help out!Ā
So many people had voted yes on whether or not I should open up submissions again and take FanPro out of hiatus, but Iāve not decided on whether or not I can put that effort into it with how much time and mental capacity it takes to run. Iām sure they would all love to know something fresh and new exists!
Good luck!Ā š - Arkie
Did you mean 12/9?
Yep we meant 12/9, sorry about that!

in the 2201-2210 post the same design appears twice, is this a glitch or accidental or something??
Hi, thatās actually just a mistake that we are working on fixing rn! We will be replacing the design that is a duplicate with a mod design.

i have a pencil drawn fanpro i would like to submit for use, but i don't have any digital way to reproduce it. is a pencil design okay?
Yes, traditional designs are totally acceptable! Please submit!

This is incredibly random, but are either of the current mods the admin of the Fanpro Booru? (the username is just fanpro) I had the idea of making one to sort designs by tags such as colors and themes, but it turns out one already exists. And it's very very old & outdated. I tagged the stuff already there but it might be a bit complicated to manage it without admin privileges, so I was wondering if any of you are the admin or if I should email the booru staff to request privileges?
No, neither of us have access to that account, sorry!
-Mod Boony
Maybe when a batch is over submitted, you can save the designs for the next batch if it's big enough?
Actually, we came up with that idea! ā¦Bbbbut itād end up going against a rule we have that: if someoneās design is not accepted, the design goes back to them, and itās up to the person whether or not they want to submit again.
