I am thinking about how Kevin Tong’s image evokes a stark truth about the present moment. The Emerald City shining beyond the darkness of Kansas, if only we can make it past the bright promise of the poppies, and stay on the caution-colored path. The Arts and Leisure section of the NYTimes sent me looking for this. Of course, we can’t discount the fact that once we’ve arrived, we’ll just be set up for a bait and switch by a carnival performer.
