tI have been doing a course in linear algebra. I am prioritizing it over the calculus course for now, because the grading system for that MOOC is just frustrating. For calculus I am resorting more to a book. I’ll see how that goes.

Anyway, linear algebra, it’s been a really great course and I am learning a lot. I think it is way better than the calculus course in terms of experience. Not taking the programming lectures of the course into account,  I have finished 2 of 8 weeks. 

In week two of the course the topic of mathematical induction was introduced. Upon seeing that title two things came to mined, I was going to learn about mathematical proofs and I was going to be utterly confused. And I was very confused. I followed everything until the inductive statement/step. After that I all could see were summation signs an rewriting of equations. 

I re-watched the video about 3 times, but still I can only get as far as the base base case. I don’t know what is was, but something about this made me want to go harder. Even in the face of defeat I want to continue. I can’t recall  having that attitude  towards anything I’ve ever done.  And after taking a days rest and watching a couple of YouTube videos I figured it out. And I was able to answer all the homework questions for that unit.
