Writing Tag!
I was tagged by @falsepremise and @burning--amber who are both amazing writers, and you should definitely check them out!!!
1) How many works in progress do you have?
In terms of fics, just Captain Of His Soul at the moment! I can’t cope with more than one on the go lol. I do, however, have snippets for upcoming stories saved.
2) Do you/would you write fanfiction?
I dooooooo
And I love it. I think it’s a fantastic way to develop your writing, and there are so, so many fantastic fanfic writers who’ve made me laugh/cry/stalk around the house in a rage, etc.
3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?
While I totally get the appeal of ebooks for some, I’m strangely resistant to them. I have many, many paper books, and I just like the look/feel of them! Although fanfic, of course, I read onscreen :)
4) When did you start writing?
God, about 11 years ago? I think I was about 12, but I don’t think I actually wrote any fanfiction til I was about 15. Still, that’s 8 years of practice (and some terrible pieces of work I’d like to light on fire) .
5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?
In terms of what? I mean, I share my work on ao3, and in the past, I’ve shared bits of chapters with the lovely @neonraate :) I don’t have a beta or anything, though - I never have.
6) Where is your favorite place to write?
In my room, on my laptop, absolutely undisturbed (rare). But I’m really, really good at distracting myself with netflix, etc. I also tend to dream a lot of my chapters, or write them in my head in the shower, strangely enough.
7) Favorite childhood book?
Harry Potter, hands down.
8) Writing for fun or publication?
Um, well I’ve never tried to get anything published. I have the bare bones (seriously, the barest of bones) of two works of original fiction, but I never get around to working on them. I would love to write a published book, one day. But right now, I love writing my fic and hearing what people think of it!
9) Pen and paper or computer?
99% of the time, computer. But in summer, when I have five seconds to myself, I’ll very occasionally take a big notepad outside, remember vaguely where I was up to, and write a few scenes to type up later.
10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?
No, never! It sounds like it would be good, but I don’t have time right now. God, to be a lady of leisure.
11) What inspires you to write?
The characters, I think! Especially with fanfiction - Jim and Spock drive me along, and so do daydreams about scenes that I can’t wait to get down on (metaphorical) paper. But I’ve always loved writing. I have a somewhat obsessional drive to do it!
