Heliopsis Helianthoides (False Sunflowers) Bicycle Path, Marshalltown, IA - September 2017 http://michael-massa-micon.tumblr.com There are miles of very good bicycle trails in and around Marshalltown, Iowa. This patch of bright yellow flowers caught my attention as I rode by in the Little League Park. At first I thought they were some variation on a Black-eyed Susan or some other sunflower, but eventually I found the right cross-reference and discovered that they were False Sunflowers. Regardless of their name, they are very pretty and add a touch of bright color to the early fall. I didn’t realize that I had a photo-bomber until I was preparing these images to post. A very busy bumble bee is seen on one of the flowers in the first image and in flight between flowers in the second. The third image is a wider shot of the patch of Heliopsis Helianthoides. MWM
