#false copyright

All I did in this video was play Undertale. Somebody copyright claimed “Nyeh heh heh” who isn’t Toby Fox. I have looked into it and found this is a huge problem and the people who handle Toby’s music are working on it. In the mean time, do you know the best way to dispute this? I only ask you because you’ve dealt with bull crap like this before (bird song) and may know the solution. I would like to share whatever info I find out in a video so others know what to do when it happens to them. I want to do it in a funny British accent because Billy is so inspiring. —- There are a couple of different options to dispute this! The one that usually works for false and fraudulent claims is “my video falls under fair use.” And in the description as to why, explain that the sound they are claiming (in this case, Nyeh Heh Heh) is by Toby Fox and those who handle his music, and specifically mention that the company (in this case, “AdRev For Rights Holder”, a clear fraud attempt if I’ve seen one) does NOT own that music. In this particular case, the music they are claiming (should they fall back on “Big Bad Boss”) isn’t even in the video. Then bring up that falsely representing rights ownership is illegal and can be prosecuted as fraud. This usually scares them off. And make sure you keep the name and the claim public, so people know who’s doing this and the fraudulent “owner” is exposed and will hopefully not do this again. - Alex

Help this wonderful anime review Youtuber out by posting in the forum he has linked in his video description. Chibi doesn't deserve this.

So, I was looking in my email today and noticed that one of my videos got flagged for copyright claim. Apparently, the video in question is for a Let's Play video for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with the Sky Chase Zone music setting off the content ID flag. According to YouTube, Sean E Depp and RouteNote own the track despite never owning it... ever. I received a message from Sean E Depp and he is not personally responsible for this mess. RouteNote, on the other hand, was responsible for a number of false copyright reports which the users had to dispute (myself included). My question is why is RouteNote going around making these false claims in the first place? Seriously, this has to stop. I did file a counter-claim, what can I do from there?
