"Excuse me?" The lone scribe called to the passer-by. "I'm a bit...a bit lost. Can I bother you for d...directions?"

She laid on the Mojave dirt, it was a bit of cold night as she stayed close to the small fire she made. She looked up at the stars in the night sky, trying to find the shapes she had read about in books.

The endless thrumming of her foot steps was in her ears. Taking a short cut was the worst idea ever. Spinning around she shot towards what was following her. Turning and running again she began to reaload. She was panting now, trying to keep running, they weren't going to last much longer. Another set of round fired off and they finally dropped dead. Hands on her knees, legs shaking she slid to the ground. "Fucker. Teach you to chase me ." A moments rest and she god back up, fanning herself with her hat, checking them for anything good she shook her head. Getting more rounds, at least that was better than nothing, she paused to tear apart their gun and replace the springs in her own. And then she heard a noise, the sound of footsteps in the distance and she spun, pointing her gun at them from her crouched position "Stop right there or I'll kill you."
