Seems the new hot thing is to introduce your DnD OCs to Tumblr and see what people think. I’ve got a few sheets written out but I’ve only gotten the chance to use two of them so far. Let’s start off with my main Mr. Grumpy--
This anti-social hermit is my old man, Solarus Omnyn. Somewhere in his late 40′s, Solarus is finding himself traveling with a ragtag group looking to change the world for the better. I like calling him old but with all the NPCs and other players, he’s actually the second youngest. The party’s Sorcerer Warlock being the youngest among them.
Solarus had a mixed childhood. From being raised by a loving human mother then being chased out of town after her death. He took up Necromancy in hopes that if he learned enough about death that he could save others from it. But being anti-people, quiet, and very awkward when it came to social politeness, he’s finding it more useful in trying to keep himself alive instead. Well, that and his party.
I think the only thing that makes him different from your copy/paste background is that growing up in a mainly human village and never being told about his Tiefling Father or heritage, Solarus grew up with the childish misconception that he was actually dragonkin. So he has an affinity for the giant flying lizards and knows a lot about them. Its a thing he’s never told anyone and would like to keep it that way.
Talk about a BIG contrast, this little fuzzball is Fallfire Quickwit. An experiment into homebrew classes of Rabbitfolk. Like his name suggests Fallfire is quick with his words and is very keen in trying to swindle folks out of their money, items, and other junk which he can recycle and disguise into ‘valuable treasures’. He’s my more coming out and being more social in my DND group character while my first is a bitter quiet old man. He’s a Charlatan Rogue, but he’s not that great at killing enemies. He tries to rely more on persuasion and words to get him out of tight situations, or using his party as a shield. For now. They’ve all been rather helpful surprisingly and Fallfire is growing fond of the murderous group he’s found himself in. It does help that they all are willing to keep his identity a secret from his kin who are out searching for him.
He’s run away from a unity ceremony that might bring his people peace with the high hopes that he can make it on his own. He wishes the best for his family but he’s a young buck who doesn’t wanna me tied down, mom! He’s got such a long life to live full of adventure! Money! Manslaughter... Oof.
