   He perked up at the mention of food, giving a quick nod before clinging onto the Swede’s arm. “Yes! I just got here and I didn’t have dinner so I could eat here. Mind leading the way, Ruotsi?”

Wim’s mask was likely the most ornate part of his attire for the evening; with a long, silver beak and delicate engravings on the sides, it made a striking pair with his suit and blood red tie and black collared shirt. “The masks too- most of them I can appreciate as works of art, but there’s some that have got to be hurting their necks. That lady over there- there’s so many feathers and rhinestones that she could bury a man. Where’d you get the inspiration for your’s?”

“Here, have some jam.” It looks delicious; Elin’s friend was more than happy to make it when Elin had picked the berries, and it seemed like a good bartering tool for the Icelander. “I need like. Either an old dresser someone’s not using anymore or an inexpensive dresser. Do you happen to have or know where I could obtain either of those things? I do not want to ask Aleks or Matti, because Gods know that Aleks will ask me why and then I’ll have to tell him.” It’s very clear that she doesn’t want to tell her brother or his husband about her project, because Aleks could probably do it better than her and try to give her advice.

She didn’t expect this reaction from him. Maybe just to get his attention, or to elicit that rare smile. But she wasn’t complaining, smiling enough for the both of them. “It does you no good to think troubling thoughts by yourself.”

Mathias nods, tugging the oversized Aleks sweater closer to him as he wandered around the house, lighting some autumnal smelling candles. He’d made some pumpkin pastries earlier that were sitting on the stove, but his curiosity is piqued at the idea for keeping a pumpkin’s shape. “And to think, I could actually learn somethin’ from ya--”

Mathias, bundled up in all things cozy and warm, simply gives a little nod. He loves the smells, the sounds, the tastes of autumn, and even though (in his lovely Danish opinion) it was cold as shit, the windows open would be lovely. “Sounds good--”
