Analysis
Wielding the Shadow Sword, Fallen Mareeta takes a spot as one of if not the most powerful infantry sword unit to date. With her high BST alone F!Mareeta simply outclasses a vast majority of units already in the fast melee player phase unit archetype: she can even competing with those at the top like Ayra or Karla.
Similar to Lewyn’s Forseti, F!Mareeta’s Shadow Sword allows her to make follow-up attacks immediately with a Desperation-like effect. However this effect only works while at high HP rather than low HP. This means that reaching her full potential requires essentially no setup and is accessed from the get-go. Shadow Sword additionally grants -1 special cooldown, meaning that paired with her default Flashing Blade 4, F!Mareeta can activate a 3 CD special such as her default special Luna immediately on initiation with Shadow Sword’s follow-up effect as it will be fully charged from 2 to 0 from her first attack and then activate on her second. Flashing Blade 4 also grants 5 extra damage if she passes its Spd check. All of these effects together heavily increase her ORKO potential assuming Mareeta has the Spd to double her opponents.
Null Follow-Up further ensures that F!Mareeta will be able to pull off this deadly combo, disabling enemy skills like Wary Fighter that would otherwise deny F!Mareeta’s follow-ups. This also has the bonus effect of making her immune to guaranteed follow-ups allowing her to survive otherwise-deadly threats when she needs to.
It is advised to deploy F!Mareeta alongside some source of healing in the event that she drops out of the HP threshold of Shadow Sword. Otherwise Desperation can be used alongside it so that F!Mareeta has access to the instant follow-up effect regardless of her HP. Using the Shadow Sword also means that it can be difficult to make use of low-HP skills like Brazen skills, although thankfully she can rely on other skills for damage output and stats.
F!Mareeta prefers boons/assets in Spd (superboon) and Atk. Her preferred banes/flaws are Res and HP.

Builds
Budget/Low Investment
Mareeta is fully functional with her base kit. Read the Analysis section above for a summary of her default skills and playstyle.
These builds tack on Darting Blow 3, as 41 Spd may not be enough to double or even pass Flashing Blade’s Spd check against faster opponents. Using Desperation instead of Null Follow-Up grants Mareeta access to instant follow-ups regardless of her HP.
Mareeta’s other Sacred Seal options include Atk/Spd+2, Savage Blow, Spd Smoke, and buff skills.
Player Phase (Shadow Sword)
These builds focus on Shadow Sword’s incredible player phase power and ORKO potential.
The first build uses Galeforce instead of Mareeta’s default Luna. Shadow Sword reduces its cooldown to 4, which is can then be fully charged every round by using Shadow Sword’s instant follow-ups combined with Flashing Blade. Mareeta can then use the extra action to either take out a second enemy in the same turn or retreat. The combo of Atk/Spd Solo 3 and Flashing Blade 3 is nearly interchangeable with Flashing Blade 4 and Darting Blow 3, with the former granting 1 extra damage per attack and the latter being usable regardless of her positioning relative to her allies.
The second build uses Special Spiral to activate 5-cooldown in-combat specials every round (with Aether being the only current one). Shadow Sword reduces the cooldown to 4, and once Aether has been activated once, the cooldown is then essentially reduced to 2. With one Flashing Blade-accelerated attack and an instant follow-up with Shadow Sword, Mareeta can then initiate with Aether every time she doubles, granting self-sustain in addition to the damage that Luna would grant.
The third build is similar to the previous one, using Special Spiral to spam special procs in the player phase. The special’s cooldown is reduced from 4 to 3 with Shadow Sword and then from 3 to 1 with Special Spiral after the first activation. Because AoE specials are non-lethal, Mareeta will attack at least once after the activation. This allows Mareeta to always have Blazing Wind charged after each initiation. Shadow Sword allows Mareeta to attack twice after Blazing Wind activates, securing kills in the event that Blazing Wind and her first attack weren’t enough. Life and Death is used to increase Mareeta’s visible Atk as much as possible to scale with Blazing Wind. Atk+3 can be used as the Sacred Seal to further increase it.
Regarding the second and third builds, stacking skills that grant Mareeta special charge at the start of battle, such as Infantry Pulse, Ostia’s Pulse, Quickened Pulse, and Velouria’s weapon, Wolfpup Fang, can allow Mareeta to spam Aether/AoE specials from the start without having to manually charge them first.
The fourth build uses Sturdy Impact for a more straightforward approach, boosting her Atk on initiation with the added bonus of extra safety against bulky physical units should they survive her first two attacks. Null Follow-Up denies Wary Fighter effects, although its anti-guaranteed doubles effect overlaps with Sturdy Impact’s and can be replaced with other skills like Desperation, Chill Def, and Dull Close.
Player Phase (w/o Shadow Sword)
With her superior Spd, Mareeta can run typical infantry sword builds as efficiently as her competitors with these being just a couple examples. I would advise against using Firesweep Sword+ builds as Shadow Sword essentially behaves in the same fashion but with cooldown reduction.
The first build uses Armorsmasher+ mainly for use in modes in Arena where armored units are incredibly common. Using Null Follow-Up and Hardy Bearing deny powerful skills used commonly by slow, hard-hitting/tanky units that would otherwise be able to negate their low Spd through such skills. Bold Fighter, Vengeful Fighter/Quick Riposte, Wary Fighter, etc. all fall under this list.
Because of her unparalleled Spd, Mareeta can quad with Brave Sword+ very reliably. With Fury 3 and Darting Blow, her Spd reaches 49 in the player phase. Desperation allows her to quad and activate Luna all without the interruption of a counterattack.
