1. DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER IN A FEW WORDS.

              if i could only use three words — good, strong, selfless. ( which are all hufflepuff traits, i will point out. ) even though good might seem like a lousy word, i think it’s an important one, because there are so many morally corrupt characters on this show ( hell, even kara has her moments ) but maggie sticks by what she believes in. she’s a good person, she stands up for others and herself, she has dedicated her entire life to serving the citizens of national city, she’s soft and kind and gentle as well as using her strength and badassery to help those in need. it doesn’t really get better than that, y’know? she has her flaws like everyone else but who she is as a person is not one of them.

              her strength is something i’ll never get over. her whole entire world was shaken up at fourteen, and we know she felt like an outcast from then on. her parents disowned her, she likely didn’t have any friends, and yet, she still came out a kind and loving person. she’s not bitter because of her past, which is a trope so many other fictional characters have. she doesn’t use her past as an excuse to be an asshole. she’s put it all behind her, even if it is still painful for her to talk about, and she just gets on with being the amazing person she is. i think that really sets her apart from other characters out there.

              her selflessness is unmatched. she hid a painful part of her past in order to make alex’s coming out process better. she then suppresses those memories once again in order to make alex’s first valentine’s day good. she readily jumps into the line of fire to protect others. she’s constantly helping others even though she doesn’t get anything out of it. she actively helps those less fortunate, and doesn’t discriminate. the list goes on and on. however, she doesn’t cross the line. if she’s being mistreated, she will address it, and i think that’s a really noble trait as well.

8. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER AFRAID OF?

              i think one of the big things for maggie is emotional vulnerability. every time she’s opened up, she’s gotten shut down ( her parents, eliza, her exes ) and that causes her to turn away from that. she’s scared of being hurt, and since it’s happened so many times, it’s no surprise that a wall has been built up around her. despite being kind and ( admittedly ) soft, she is a badass with a charming exterior. this puts people off the fact that she’s vulnerable, which is exactly what she wants. for example, the first time she meets alex, she’s all business ( no pun intended ), but those walls slowly come down.

              i’d say loss is another huge fear she has for the exact same reasons above. she’s afraid of things that have happened to her so many times in the past. maybe you could say her biggest fear overall is pain because she actively avoids anything that could cause it. loss is also synonymous with abandonment, which is yet another thing she has experienced a lot of. people well and truly underestimate just how much stock maggie is putting into her relationship with alex. her entire heart is on the line, and if this goes badly, it’ll destroy her once again. with the amount of times she’s been hurt, it would be hard to judge what comes next.

              i think it’s important that maggie’s fears aren’t tangible things. she’s not afraid of jumping into a room with an alien with no riot gear and a lousy pistol. i mean, sure, she probably has a fear of heights or something along those lines, but her main fears are things that can’t be seen or touched, and i think that says a lot about her character.

27. DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER’S FAMILY.

              since we only have three confirmed canon family members, i’m going to focus on them. her mother is never directly mentioned, but it seems like she’s just as conservative as maggie’s father, or is so stuck under his thumb, she can’t make her own choices. which, either way, makes her a shitty parent. really, she chose her husband over her daughter, which is pretty bad. however, i’m wondering if we ever will see her in canon as a kind of reconnecting arc between her and maggie. i also have had a theory that maggie’s mother isn’t in the picture or something along those lines, because againm she’s never directly mentioned. 

              her father is pretty much a dick. not much else can be said about that. like, who kicks out their child at fourteen? it wouldn’t surprise me if he and maggie were close before she was outed, which makes me really sad. i hope we never do see him in canon, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he came along eventually to stir trouble. if that’s the case, i’d very much like to see alex and maggie put him in his place. her parents are a pretty touchy subject, and she doesn’t like to talk about them.

              her aunt is the last confirmed family member in canon. i’d like to think that maggie’s aunt is supportive of her, and she’s the one who sends christmas cards and calls every weekend. it wouldn’t make sense for her aunt to take her in for three years if she didn’t care about her. i’d love to see their dynamic in canon if it’s a positive one. i’m also wondering if her aunt had any kids herself, because they may also act as makeshift siblings for her. i see maggie as an only child biologically ( mostly because this is a show focused on a sibling relationship and i feel like maggie would’ve mentioned having a sibling by now ) but the more people she has in her corner, the better.

“   do you think there’s stickers still out there somewhere?   ”   she’s quick to question,   setting down the fresh squeezed lemonade on the table.   “   we could decorate the trailer with stickers…   that is,   if jesus is okay with it.   i think he would be,   don’t you?   ”   a smile appears across her features and she swings her legs under the table.   there’s always something else she’s trying to pay attention to,   something that distracts her from the war raging on outside their gates.   she knows her role is to remain hidden and safe,   but it bothers her,   not being able to help.  there’s no doubt she’s a grimes.   “   maybe my daddy will bring ‘em back.   we should ask next time he visits!   ”

“ the scranton strangler and i… i could see us being friends. besides the fact he, you know, strangled people… he strangled toby flenderson. and i thank him for that. ”

                 Blue hues flutter open, tears clinging to their edges as she turned her gaze towards her sister.     She takes in a soft,     shaken breath before her lips part to speak.     ❛ What’re we gonna do?     Where’re we gonna go? ❜

her fingers fumble with a hidden object in her hands,   bright smile lighting up her features.   after a beat she gazes up at maggie,   the slight baby bump reviving the butterflies in her stomach.   “   i found something,   ”   the girl reveals,   opening her palm to show a small toy truck.   most of the paint has been chipped off and the metal has rusted,   but judith has used oil to make the wheels turn again.   to be fair,   her brother had found it,   but after minutes of begging him not to throw it over the fence,   the toy had become her’s.   now it would be the baby’s.

       “We can’t compare what he did and what we all did. That’s not how this world works. I killed people in his name. There is no coming back from that.”
