With everyone talking about Dashcon I remembered the con I tried to attend last Halloween here in Albuquerque. It was called Jack O Con and was supposed to be 3 days. We bought Saturday passes so my mom could watch the baby.
Well we get there and apparently it's shut down. One dude running it tells us it's because the Catholics here in town didn't like them having any LGBT folks and stuff. We were told our money would be refunded, but after a month I had to file with paypal to get our money back. We were also told something about people under 21 being given alcohol at the Friday's dance thing. I'm still not sure what the whole story is, but my husband and I are pretty wary of which cons we attend now and do a lot of research behind the small ones.
Here's a couple links to some Jack O Con stories.

So I guess it should be known that while Dashcon sounds like it definietly had some issues and should be handled by different people next year, at least it didn't get shut down and hopefully the people who went had a decent weekend.
