I love Fahad!!
A niece of mine was binge-watching a rom-com in WeTV, "My Lecturer, My Husband". So I got this inspiration to recreate its poster (and swaps the OG couple into what I've wanted #fakookie 🤎💜). Lmao.
One thing for sure, I'm just doing it for recreational and entertainment purposes in my leisure times. I hope it won't be taken too serious. ✌🏻
Every Ramadan I think about my ex Fahad, and how he took so much time to teach me about Islam and answered even the dumbest questions I had about Saudi Arabia & Islam in general without ever treating me like I was an idiot. He was always so kind & patient with me, and it meant the world to me -- someone who was raised around people who were xenophobic as hell -- to have a genuine way of learning about a part of the world a lot of Americans were quick to judge & dismiss.
I've no idea where he is now in life, but I'm really thankful he took the time to teach me and if by some miracle he's still following this blog after all these years, I hope he's having a wonderful holiday 💙

ഒഴിവാക്കുക - ozhivakkuka is to avoid, to leave, to let go.
The scene is from Maheshinte Prathikaaram (Mahesh’s Revenge). In it, we see Anusree’s character breaking up with Mahesh in a very ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ sort of way. It is then Mahesh says ‘നൈസ് ആയിട്ട് അങ്ങ് ഒഴിവാക്കി കളഞ്ഞല്ലേ - Nice ayyitu angu ozhivaaki kalanjale’ in a mixture of anger and sadness. Roughly translated, it means 'you’re leaving me/throwing me away, aren’t you?’ However, a more nuanced translation would be 'you’ve brilliantly cheated me, haven’t you?’
As you might have noticed, there’s an English word 'nice’ in the statement. It has a totally different meaning then what it normally means. 'Nice’, in this case, adds to the meaning that she’s dumping him in a very cunning manner. [Often, when an English word is added to Malayalam, it takes on a completely different meaning. We will discover more of this in the coming weeks.]
Other usage:
We often use this word when we’re describing situations to other people.
Eda, njan a joli ozhivaaki.
'I left that job, bro.’
Avale/avane njan ozhivaaki
'I left her/him.’
Miss, miss! Avar enne kalinnu ozhivaaki!
'Miss! Miss! They left me out of the game.’
In certain cases, we can use 'വിട്ടു - vittu’ which also means left.
A case njan vittu.
'I left it.’
Here, the English word 'case’ can mean a number of things (from girl to job) depending on the situation.
Truths aren't meant to be faced alone. Sometimes the clearest waters are those we see together. The courage in speaking plainly... it reminds me why silence is often the loudest lie.
Clarity is rare. Most people hide behind words, rare are who go straight to the heart of things.
Clarity is a choice. It requires stripping away illusions and facing truths, no matter how painful.
