Microsoft has an important certification, which is known as the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert or MCSE. This certification states the holder is fully qualified to administrate, manage or operate a medium size or large corporate network.

The MCSE is completed with the candidate successfully passing five exams. This article will break down the stages for the Microsoft MCSE.

When a student begins her/his training for MCSE, the idea of passing five exams appears to be difficult. Microsoft has structured the training for the student to take the process one step at a time.

Let’s begin with Step 1.

When a student passes the first Microsoft exam, that student receives a certificate as a Microsoft certified professional or MCP. The student can operate a corporate server under the super vision of a senior network administrator. The MCP class teaches basic server installation and operation. The first MCP class if taught the recommended way consists of a full hands-on curriculum using virtual software to simulate a network. This class is completed in 78 hours with lectures, lab assignments and class projects. The student after graduating from this first course takes the first Microsoft exam. The class recommended for this exam is the Microsoft 70-410.

Step2

After advancing from step 1, which was the MCP or Microsoft certified Professional; the student will complete two more classes 70-411 and 70-412. The amount of instruction for both classes equals close to 156 hours of curriculum. After completing the second and third Microsoft classes in the Microsoft training series, the student is qualified to take and pass two exams. The Microsoft 70-411 and 70-412. The Microsoft 70-411 and 70-412 courses teaches students the foundations of active directory, cyber security and how to perform all stages of backup and recovery. After passing a total of three exams, the student will receive a certificate from Microsoft known as the MCSA or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate. The MCSA is one step under the MCSE. Students holding the MCSA certification have received the title of senior network administrator for small companies. Passing the three exams: 70-410, 70-411 and 70-412 is an excellent achievement for employment.

Finally at the top of Microsoft’s networking structure is the MCSE. Students must pass in addition to the three exams listed earlier Microsoft’s 70-413 and 70-414. After passing the final two exams, the student is now a fully qualified MCSE and will receive a certificate from Microsoft. The MCSE opens up many job opportunities. Students will learn advanced functions of Microsoft server networking in these two courses amounting to 156 hours of instruction. The title of senior network administrator usually comes with this final step.
