What kind of filters do you need? Actually, I don’t know. I only know, which filters I use frequently.

I only use two kinds of filters on my camera(s):

ND-filters and polarizing filters.

Both are filters, that allow things, that wouldn’t be possible in-camera or in editing.

ND-filters simply reduce the amount of light entering the lens - just like sunglasses for your camera.

So I’ll be able to achieve shallower depth-of-field (by opening the iris of my lens) even in brightest sunlight. I got a so called Fader-ND, that allows me to dial in just the amount of darkening that I need. For landscape photography a graduated ND filter is useful to darken only parts (for example the sky) of an image. I don’t have one yet, but definitly will get one soon.

Polarizing filters are astounding. They only let pass lightwaves from special directions. So you can reduce reflections on water or glass. By reducing reflections, not only the colours of your pictures are intensified and you’ll be able to get real clear blue sky and saturated colours on - say leaves and meadows, but you’ll be able to “dial away" the sky reflections on water-surfaces and really see what’s going on beneath.

I shot a lot of pictures of the Greek coastline and will post comparisons of pictures with and without polarizing filters, as soon as I’m back.
