im not only vegan for the animals. i'm vegan for the people who work on the killing floor at slaughterhouses who are deeply traumatized by the horrible acts theyre forced to commit. i'm vegan for small communities who rely on small-scale fishing to survive, who have ran out of fish to eat due to massive industrial overfishing by wealthy western countries. i'm vegan for anyone who will become a climate refugee in the future due to rising sea levels and natural disasters. i'm vegan for the wild birds suffering and dying from avian flu caused by industrial poultry farming. i'm vegan for the people in rural communities who have ancestral ties to land that was forcibly taken from them for the sake of factory farming.
human rights are animal rights and you cannot be truly vegan if you don't acknowledge the human suffering that's caused by factory farming too. veganism is part of intersectional fights for human rights. veganism is not the same as ecofascism. a significant percentage of the population going vegan is essential to secure the rights of marginalized communities and fight permanent disaster due to climate change. not literally everyone has to go vegan, everyone should see for themselves what they can do, and i am not forcing anyone into anything. but we need to treat mass animal abuse with the weight and seriousness it deserves.
