Facebook is about to test giving wider distribution to Public Group posts on and off Facebook. This is to help more people discover conversations, and find and connect with communities." What does this mean? 🤔👇🏻 ✅ When you're on the Groups tab (desktop or mobile), you might start seeing specific posts from Public Facebook groups that are about a trending/popular topic, e.g. see the first screenshot with, "Featured: National Chocolate Day is popular across groups." ✅ Or, you might see "Related Discussions" in News Feed when someone posts a link or re-shares a post on Facebook. See the middle screenshot here. ✅ And, when you visit the Groups tab, you may see posts from Public groups related to your interests, e.g. see the third screenshot with, "Because you viewed Opt Outside." PLUS, get this: "You may start to see conversations from Public groups more outside of the Facebook app, like when you’re searching the web." So, from any of these locations ON Facebook, as well as seeing Public group posts outside of Facebook, *anyone* can join the conversation even if they are not a member of that group! 😳 BUT, thankfully, Facebook is allowing Admin settings to prevail, e.g. the ability to have post approvals on (which can be a good thing, but can also be a hassle for some group owners).
