Mental Health Awareness
Mental health is a topic that has been on the rise in the past decades. Everyday, people fall into problems with mental health, ranging from anxiety to disorders in habits and even depression. This is especially important now, during the time of a pandemic and a lockdown. To help cope with mental health problems and stresses we may experience at home during this pandemic and online learning, our group of four have prepared a mental health calendar to help us cope and improve our mental health. For our Sundays, we chose to call it Sabbath Sunday, where we praise and worship God . Our Mondays are called Meditate Monday, wherein will do various forms of meditation to help us relax and help our minds rest. On Tuesdays, we think back of things and people we are thankful for and thank them, hence the name of Thankful Tuesday. Wednesdays are our Workout Wednesdays wherein we will do various forms of exercise to keep ourselves active and help in blood flow, which also helps in distressing the body. Thursdays are named Take-a-break Thursday, in which we take breaks and rest from our daily lives. Fridays are Face-A-Book Fridays; choosing to read a good book, whether fiction or non fiction, over using other online means to pass time. Last in the week is Saturday, named Smile Saturday. On this day we aim to find something that will make us smile, whether it be in the form of learning something new, finding a new hobby, or improving a skill. Most of what we picked to do revolves around reducing stress. As students going through online classes and living in the time of a pandemic, stress arguably have the most impact in our mental health, hence we chose to focus more on distracting ourselves to let our brains rest.
