New textile editions! The Fabric of Space-time collection
My latest textile edition is the Fabric of Space-Time collection, a series of home-wares intended to act as tactile models for ancient and modern understandings of space and time.
Flip the face of the cloth when you want to turn the world upside down. Sit and rest upon a universe, let gravity sink your head into the cushion, be enveloped by this starry quilt; think about all that is out there, behind, in front, past and future, right now.
Produced in a limited edition using jacquard woven double-cloth fabric designed by me and woven in Sweden, it has been carefully combined with fabric detailing that is hand-dyed and hand-woven in my studio.
This release is part of an ongoing research project begun in 2014 during my MFA in textiles at Konstfack, Stockholm. The project is an experiment in using textiles as a way of understanding the structure of the universe and in making complex and seemingly abstract theories of time and space tangible. From Anni Albers, to ancient Andeans to Einstein take a look at the Fabric of Space-time micro-site to explore this connection between space, time and textiles in more depth. Head over to the shop to purchase a piece from the collection.
