tbh i think when people call quentin a 'womanizer' what they mean is that tbhhhh hes a bit of a fuckboy dudebro who tends to objectify women and doesnt treat them like people as much as he should. and in the first book he was DEFINITELY like this, it was only after he really realized that he was in love with alice and then subsequently lost her that he started changing his behavior. but yeah like tbh in the first book he did not come off well to me at all and i found him very unsympathetic
(obvs that doesnt mean people should be punching him or w/e but i understand that reaction is what im saying)
I get that they probably meantĀ āfuckboy,ā but still. Ā It was a pretty hilarious word confusion when womanizer implies a character actually does sleep with or successfully charms women a lot, which he definitely lacks the prowess to do, and doesnāt happen. Ā L
And really, I get that people feel that way, but like? I donāt? Ā Q has always been a pretty relatable character to me, and one Iāve always sympathized with. Ā Yeah, I get mad at him a lot when he has shitty mindsets or makes bad decisions, but like, that doesnāt mean I canāt care about a character either. Ā Thereās a lot to Q other than that--his constant loneliness, his constant swinging between romantic idealism and this crushing hopelessness, the fact that heās someone willing to change and who does change.
So like, sure, I get that Q does things that are wrong, and I donāt have a problem at all with people being unhappy when those come up, but like, heās a character I really love a lot, so people who donāt like him are people Iām already not interested in talking to / being friends with, so I kinda had a laugh at that anonās expense. Itās petty, but eh.. Ā Quentin hate is all over the tags a lot, so I took a moment of amusement at the kind of stuff that irritates me being a little silly.
