with the new game coming out next year i wanted to give the old fable games a shot but then i found out they never ported fable 2 to pc so is it worth it to play just 1 and 3?
There's a lot of lore stuff that comes into play in the second installment which echoes into the third, but I don't think you necessarily need to play it in between the other two so you should be fine. You certainly won't be missing any groundbreaking game mechanics
I do recommend reading the story line wiki for 2 after you finish one so you can catch references and lore threads that get carried to 3. There's a location called the Spire that's really important for 3 that might get confusing if you don't know about it beforehand and its place in 3 will be a little more impactful if you know things. There's also lore stuff with the character named Reaver who I know for a fact is going to be in the remake that I'm pretty sure happens in 2 (he's also in 1 and 3 so you wont be missing out on him)
If you have about three hours I recommend watching this which is a play through of the main storyline of Fable 2 uploaded last year so its quality is not too shabby. Alsoooo this video goes into how to run Fable 2 with Xenia which is an xbox 360 emulator if you're up for doing some futzing
