And here’s the logo I put together for Tiny Frame to use in the 48 Hour Game Making Challenge. This event was super fun, I really want to take part in it again. So here are all the interests I created for the game. Each one belongs to a group of three. The chess ones didn’t work out so well in the end, everyone had trouble telling what they are. And the spooky ones could be hard to see a connection. Also check out my sweet naming conventions. 

Here’s the node tree I put together to create all my character sprites for Love Swap.  I had a bunch of pre-built characters depending on hair/hat type and armour type then I could change their skin tone, armour material, shirt colour, eye colour, hair colour, whatever.  Toon Boom is an incredible program. 

Here are the spirtes for all the Love Swap Characters. These peeps were super cute to animate :3 There’s the idle animation and the talking animation (The art for them being held by the player cursor was not used in the end unfortunately). (And yeah... I totally missed to colour the boots in for one frame which ended up on a bunch of them...)

Here’s the animation seqeunce for the player’s ‘God Hand’ cursor. The idle animation as well as the sprites for the grab. To go with the RPG Tavern setting I wanted it to have that warcraft hand feel. And to tie our use of the word ‘Power’ into the game, I wanted the hand to appear particuarlly opulent and regal (I was thinking of Disney’s Robin Hood as I designed it).

Here are the chair and table assets, with some older versions.  It was rather fun trying to design RPG furniture with 60s/70s style references. I had some ideas to work with from my original concept images, and I augmented those with the referecnes.   The first image I put together so the programmers would have a place holder, and it was the beginning of some ideas. Removing a single, solid table support in favour of 4 smaller legs to fit the style.  The perspective on the table had to change in the end to accomodate tthe grid layout of the game, and to get three characters sitting at it. For the chairs simplicity was required to easily place characters onto them and I’m very happy with the final design.  A final colour change was made to have the furniture blend into the background and avoid over-shadowing the characters. 

So here’s some remains I have from the background art development, as well as the final piece. (Not shown here was a middle piece where the blue was super saturated). For the theme we went with an RPG Tavern setting, but to keep the idea of the Love theme we wanted to add in some 60s/70s designs to reference the show The Dating Game (as well as throwing in some bossa nova style).
