Stefan hadn’t been back to Lima, since the time he went to get help with his alcohol problem, he probably wouldn’t have returned if it wasn’t that he was still in love with Katherine, all through the time he was in Lima with the problem she  was the only one who stood by his side and tried to help him. He left her for the fact that he wanted to get help, he wanted to go back to his parents but he only left with a letter to Katherine, he didn’t go say goodbye to her, so the last time he saw her was Thanksgiving when they went for a walk in the park and that was about seven months ago. He was worried turning up back home, Katherine was going to hate him and it was going to be a waste of time. 

As Stefan returned home, he needed to find Katherine, it was the only reason he came home, so he texted Colton, his best mate to get Katherine to think she was meeting Colton at the park. He waited at the park, hoping that she would turn up and he could speak to her and find out if they could get things working again. 

The fact that Maxine woke up in a room bigger than her living room was a little off - she was half convinced people only truly lived like this in movies. But she also didn't feel wrong about it. Still, it was around ten in the evening, which meant - regardless of where she was - sneaking out was a must. The skate park was always the most fun at night. She grabbed her skateboard, and using what athletic skills she had, climbed out the window. She was taken aback quite a bit by what couldn't be anything but a mansion before her. Still, she was off minutes later, skating to the park. Less than an hour in, in the dimly lit park, she tossed herself off her board, crashing wrist first - scraping up both arms pretty badly and spraining one of her wrists. Entirely unaware a certain Vampire was about to feel exactly that, too.
