â Gotta warn you, Iâm feeling punchy today. â // @boomboombabyâ
Gar turned slowly, brow furrowing, mouth dropping open slightly with an obviously-confused sort of look, âHey, I mean full offense when I say this: how is that any different from any other day?â No sooner were the words out of his mouth, Gar was dodging a punch, turning into a chipmunk and scurrying under the womanâs feet.
Their friendship had started off pretty similarly. Tabby had been interested seeing a green squirrel beside the park bench she was resting on (who the heck wouldnât be? Green squirrels are cool), and when Gar had ultimately said something akin to âHey, I can see down your shirt from this angle,â The mutant had tried to strangle him.
Still, they sort of got each other. While Gar was a little more light-hearted, less... run over by the difficulties in life, he and Tabby had a similar sense of humor. They liked to play rough, challenge each other, bark out insults and chase the high of a good win. âIn fact, Iâm like, 900% sure that âpunchyâ is your only state of being.â Making his way up her pant leg with sharp little claws, he settled himself on her knee, tiny little arms crossed as he stood on his hind legs.
â ⊠are you just afraid to meet new people ? â // + @twentyninetyninesâ
âNot afraid of anything, first of all,â Nimble fingers picked and poked restlessly at pieces in the science museum (that he was definitely not supposed to touch) they were touring, eyes flickering over uninteresting âmarvelsâ they put up on shelves and adorned with plaques and called them unique, âAnd secondly, I donât have time to get out and meet new people.â
Pausing in front of a statue that looked like it had living fish living in the stomach of the stone, Peter turned to his forced-friend, crossing his arms over an expensive, Italian button-down, âBesides, if anybody needs to get out there and meet new people, itâs you from what Iâve heard of Peteâs drunk ramblings.â
Harry pointed to the statue, vaguely sarcastic with his smile, âArenât you amused? Weâre science-ing. You like science-ing. And anyway, I want to know what my supposed competition looks like when I open up my own museum.âÂ
Tibalt let out a short cackle, walking close to his, shall we say friend? Oh, most definitely. He would pass him, to the finely carved desk the elder plansewalker previously sat at taking a book specifically from the bottom of a stack and thumbed through it, without regard to the vampire.
âOh yes, Iâm certain I would have. Just as you made a fine wall ornament. I liked that one, who was she?â he jabbed, finger tips hissing, singeing the old paper as he turned though. âBut Iâm hurt to think I would not return! This is my home as much as yours, after all. Youâve made a finer mess of it than I would have ever dreamed of, too. Frankly Iâm impressed.â

â Gotta warn you, Iâm feeling punchy today. â @itsbxtgirlâ
âWait, what?â
Yelping, Gar transformed into a small snake and slithered beneath the couch cushion beside her. After a long moment, he peeked his head out, tongue flicking to taste the air in front of him. Heâd only met Stephanie Brown a handful of times, and they hadnât really talked, considering most of them were in the midst of a battle. Since the Young Justice had...departed a little (and Gar had gone his separate way), Gar hadnât spent as much time with his friends as heâd wanted to.
Heâd been trying to change that, spending more time with Bart, chatting away with the others in the group messages, and generally taking naps on all of his former teammatesâ couches.Â
And now, he was waiting for Bart while Stephanie waited for Tim. âThink you can wait for Impulse? Or uh, Iâll go find Super-boy!â Gar returned to his couch cushion, turning into a small Pomeranian, bright green and fluffy, big eyes pointed up at the blonde, âYou wouldnât punch a dog, would you?â

â Nice entrance. That was a solid 8 out of 10. â @maidenxfmightâ
The sound the car made hadnât been a good one. It was a rarity when anyone in the bat-family trusted him enough to tie his shoes, let alone park one of their vehicles, and it was for a good reason, clearly.
âWhat deducted the points? Was it the part where I scraped against the side of the garage, or where I hit the wall when I opened the door?â
Both he and Supergirl stared down at the damages done to the sleek exterior of a car that probably cost more than Gar would ever make in a lifetime. âThink you can punch that out?â He joked, pointing to the large dent in the driver-side door. Kara wasnât a tattle-tale, he didnât think. Sheâd probably made a few mistakes in her super-awesome hero career (bridges, anybody?), but she probably looked a lot cooler doing it.
And also didnât have to face the wrath of Bruce Wayne or Tim Drake. âMaybe they wonât notice.â
[ scream ] my muse hears your muse scream and runs to them // @boomboombaby
Gar tumbles to the ground, landing on all fours, the sleeve of his uniform ripped and bloodied. His mouth fills with saliva as he rushes to get out of the way of the next blast of green light. The changeling doesnât even know who heâs facing, since they blinded him with some kind of tear gas and now everything is nothing but fuzzy shapes in the darkness.
While mutant-crimes have gone down pretty significantly since things were rearranged as far as the Accords and Genosha, Gar has noticed that the ones that usually do happen are much more violent. Thereâs got to be something in the air, he thinks, dodging another blast while attempting to turn into some sort of rodent. There isnât much of an offense to be played, when he canât see his opponent, and he sort of wishes he was badass like Toph from Airbender, and could just kick butt while blind. If he were near water, heâd turn into a dolphin to hear their positions, and he doesnât want to chance getting blasted out of the sky as a bat. Maybe a mole?Â
He doesnât have long to think before someone quite literally comes to his rescue. Gar really, really hopes itâs not Batman, because that guy scares the crap out of him, and heâs embarrassed around him enough. Before he knows it, from his position behind the dumpster heâs hiding behind, the faceless assailants are gone and thereâs someone else in their place.
For a split second, the changeling recognizes that scent, and breathes and sigh of relief. âTabs?â Gar takes green hands to wipe at his eyes, but to no avail. His vision doesnât return and his sight isnât anywhere to be seen. âThatâs you, right?â
âOh my god, why would you fucking say that?â + @anxietylanterncruzâ
The door slammed shut behind them, the cafe bell ringing loudly with the departure of an upset woman stomping from the stoop of the building. Guy shrugged, crossing his arms and moving forward a little more in line as pretty much no one batted an eyelash at the display. It was the big city, after all - Storm Troopers waltzed around on the streets and flash dances paraded around funerals and all that jazz. What was an angry lady in a Starbucks?
âLook, she has horse teeth,â Guy started, pointing to a tuxedo muffin on the display about 15ft ahead of them, âAnd when I said that, I wasnât expecting her to have weird dog-hearing too. Besides, isnât she the rude one? She was listening in on our conversation!â
Guy shuffled to look around the portly man in front of him, then back at Jess, âYou think that sâmores thing is any good?â
