the alien's voice had boomed through the break room mere seconds after he had shut the door behind him . he had no concept of an inside voice . " is it true that humans kiss one another when earth has made a full rotation of its sun ? " it seemed a little silly to him, causing him to laugh through his words . the only other person to occupy the room was flambae, so he was the one person that katon-ur had focused in on to talk to about this information . ( poor guy ) .

he supposed the pyrokinetic would know if the custom were true, or not . it wouldn't exactly be the first time the alien had been naive enough to believe an obvious lie . . . he looks up at the clock ticking on the wall, then to the calendar beneath it . he had only asked if it was customary because his home planet, urgot-52dc, was about to finish its own rotation of its sun . it seemed only right to go along with earthly traditions while he was living amongst its inhabitants .

the clock strikes one in the afternoon and katon-ur floats to flambae's side, bending to peck his cheek, his moustache brushing against his skin before he pulls away and straightens up again . the alien had learned from robert that kissing someone directly on the lips would not normally be the best approach - at least not unless you were both seeing each other romantically . he still had so much to learn about humans . . .
