Last week construction workers began taking apart a section of the longest remaining expanse of the Berlin Wall — over a kilometer of colourful murals, painted by over 100 international artists, called the East Side Gallery. The reason: luxury condos will sit adjacent along the River Spree. 

  Of course protesters turned up. It's Berlin. First hundreds on Friday, then by Sunday, thousands--to protect huge concrete slabs from being relocated to a nearby park. The rest of the wall has already been dismantled and distributed to hundreds of parks, museums, sold to tourists.
