sigyn suffers from secondary inf*rtility. this means that after the birth of her twin sons she struggles with becoming and staying pregnant. the most probable cause for this is the traumatic birth of her sons and the childbed fever which then followed. 

her children carry jot*n dna and even as runts it is likely they would be larger at their time of birth than anyone would have expected such a small woman to carry. the birth was very long and difficult, and though she gave birth to two healthy boys she herself quickly fell ill. her childbed fever was caused by infection and for several days it was uncertain if she would live to see her sons grow or die within their first week.
