Temnospondyls
Eyrops Megacephalus
A large temnospondyl from the early Permian that could possibly grow up to 9ft long
Skeleton on display at the AMNH
This species is found in the Texas red beds
It is believed that the adults of this species spent more time on land compared to other temnospondyls, but it still had a diet of primarily fish and would have lived near bodies of water such as lakes since their bodies aren’t as suited to swimming as other species, but show adaptations for a more terrestrial life style
