At one point in Evo SMP Martyn gets into trouble with the Watchers, because he declared himself as mayor without being lawfully elected. They send him on a small scavenger hunt, basically telling him he's unfit for the role and should improve on his character a bit. Anyway, he is so upset with what the Watchers did, that in the next episode he makes a dramatic bit about leaving the server and joining a different SMP. He searches for the End Portal to leave that way, but when he arrives at the stronghold he finds it has been removed by the Watchers, who have left signs for him. He then gets killed by a creeper.

There are two things about that episode that I find line up perfectly.

Firstly, the End Portal. For some reason Martyn believes that through going to the End, he is somehow able to leave the server. Which is a bit strange to think. Why would that be the case? But all that really matters is that Martyn thinks thats how it works. And interestingly enough, thats still how he thinks it works in Last Life. When he makes a deal with the Watchers / the Shadow, they promise him, he and his friends would 'see the end'. He believes at first, it may refer to the End Dimension, only to be wrong and be deceived of course. But it stands out to me that c!Martyn seems to view the End as this path to freedom for some reason; a way out. Maybe you could even see it that the Watchers remembered Martyn had this belief from Evo, and specifically used that wording to manipulate him.

Secondly, in the following episode of Evo, after dying in the portal-less stronghold, he wakes up. Jimmy tells him he has been asleep for four days. And suddenly, Martyn does not want to leave anymore and attributes the decision to him being "emotional". Now, four days, that sounds like a lot, until you realize it works perfectly with the Life Series lore. We know that when the players die and the series ends, the Watchers put them into a long state of unconsciousness where they feed on their emotions. And while their memories remain, those emotions mostly get lost after the players wake up. This is exactly how this situation in Evo could be explained. Martyn is so angry at the Watchers that they use mobs to kill him (which they can also do in the Life Series iirc), put him into a long sleep and feed on his emotions to make sure he doesn't want to leave again when he wakes up.
