#extremely stressed

So last Sunday I got a phone call from my mom saying I needed to get to the hospital because my Nannie had taken a turn for the worst. I call work and let them know I wouldn't be there. Before I could say anything, I was told that I can't call in because someone had called in and there wouldn't be anyone to cover my shift. I told her that we just found out Nannie had cancer and it's bad and I needed to get to the hospital. My manager then continues to tell me I need to be there. My mom had to call later that evening and explain why I wouldn't be in, which I called again to let them know I wouldn't be in. I returned to work for my next shift and the bus boy is talking to me about how the girl he liked turned him down and it was the worst day of his life and how he felt like his world had ended. That's when I snapped! I know this kid was heartbroken, but it's not the end of the world. My world ended when I found out just days ago that my Nannie, my best friend, my biggest fan, and my best friend only has weeks to live. As soon as the word cancer came out of the doctors mouth, everything stopped. I can not comes to terms with her diagnosis and I really don't want to accept it. I told this kid he needed to suck it up and grow a pair and move on, because there are people dying and fighting battles that they probably won't win, and he's worried about a girl who was out of his league to begin with. I did feel bad for the kid, but when he told me his week was worse than mine. I had had enough of the kid and just snapped on him. I ended up having to go to the office and get told I had no right to tell the kid what I did. I was livid & I told my boss exactly what I told the kid. He needed to move on and realize that other people are having it worse than he is and he has no business telling others that his is worse than me finding out that my grandmother has only been given weeks to live...
