since borrowers need to do a lot of climbing, especially with their hook lines, i based my designs off real-life reinforced rock climbing clothes and added more reinforced fabric where the hook or rope would catch or rub a lot. (grace's clothes, front then back, and my inspiration)

in my mind, the ideal is for the white parts on my model to be thinner, flexible fabric for mobility, and the black parts thicker, sturdier fabric to protect the wearer and allow the clothes to last longer, although of course more often it's just whatever you can get your hands on. Here, I have the forearms and lower legs reinforced, as well as the outer elbows and knees. the inside of the elbows and knees are not, for easier and more comfortable movement. I have also added "fabric" to the whole inner leg, for rope climbing, and to the side of the shirt where the hook would rest, to prevent accidental self-stabbing. I also added a strap of fabric to the shoulder (that i just googled and are apparently called a passenten) to keep a borrowing bag attached so it doesn't slide off

also i made the belt work :) but i haven't made a hook yet or its loop on the belt. i might eventually make these out of real fabric if i find some old clothes!! very excited lol, thank you for inspiring this and generally writing an incredible fic, and i hope you find these clothes ideas as cool as i do lol

Yooooo this is so cool and well thought out! I love how many different aspects of one little (hehe) AU can get people on different rabbit holes like this. It's truly part of the great fun of a borrower AU. I love the designs, there probably is something to be said for having a little extra fabric on certain parts of the clothes to make it easier to move around in.

Also the fact that you made those with paper? That's so crafty and cool. You are a fashion designer for the borrowers now.

My favorite tidbit is that the leader of seaclan witnesses a strange cat toss an apprentice off the cliff above the leader den but it's a heavy storm and they take a couple of seconds to react. While they do bring them to shore, the kid is long dead before that.

Also star clan isn't a group of souls, but a 3 headed cat creature that creates lives, let's them roam around and then devours them after they die. The worse you were in live the further you spawn from it once you die. The dark forest refers to cats who are in hiding from it, nobody who finds a way out can warn other cats because the words and feelings fade from them each time they try
