Now that you've played Yakuza 3, how would you rate the main villains from least to most favourite?
iāll try to not be too biased to 3 given i played it last but i really do think mine is my favorite written villain so far and iāll try my best to explain why
1: Mine - heās such an easy foil character to kiryu, he highlights what it is about kiryu that people love so much, his heart, the love he has for others, and his belief in others. as they both grew up orphans, it really makes me want to dig into where their differences came from. mine, having no one, relied on no one and only trusted himself to succeed and through that he made his fortune. kiryu on the other hand, grew up with others who loved him and cared about it. if kiryu didnāt have nishiki or yumi growing up, who knows if he would have turned out the same way. mine only met someone he truly cared aboutĀ (daigo) after he had already decided it was too late to change.
also their entire dialogue after the fight really resonated with me as a whole, but the line that shook me to my core wasĀ āMaybe in my next life.... Iāll have what it takes to deserve your respectā
2: nishiki - i have a hard time labeling him a villain. I know he fucks up time and time again and I know he is inevitably a bad person for the things he did, but I really do feel for him. he feels the most 3 dimensional of all the villains to me. every single one of his actions, even if i donāt condone them, i could understand them. he cares so deeply about kiryu to the point heās kind of an idiot about it. he doesnāt know how to help kiryu but he tries anyways. and when kiryu is gone, and itās his fault, he... changes so drastically. it really makes me sad, he shouldnāt have had to go through any of it. Fuck dojima, man
3: ryuji - ryujiās an interesting guy.... heās very head-strong and believed really strongly in his own moral code. he was a straight forward guy and i think he had a really good heart but man he was a little dumb. thatās okay though, a real man should be a little dumb
4: shibusawa - even though this is my favorite fight in the franchise so far, i could not tell you a personality trait of shibusawaās without looking it up. the guy himself was kind of ... not memorable at all. kuze and awano were far more memorable. i could not tell you his motivations, either.Ā
