Note: he’s Filipino but most of his vids are in a mixture of english/filipino and he uses subs. But honestly I happily watch him and his friends react in filipino without subs - they’re so much fun I don’t even care.

 This very short film by Sophie Koko Gate (RCA graduate) gives me and idea for my opening sequence.  The close up of the ice-cream turning (original idea) could act like a record being scratched back and forth with my song of choice for the animation syncing with the movement.  When the ice-cream does a full uninterrupted turn the song and the rest of the film can start. 

  Panning shots with twists and turns moving the viewer smoothly through the otherwise chaotic animation.  This is a technique I have played with a little bit in previous animations and I want to continue with in my current film.

Here is the trailer for Marcus Armitage’s latest short “My Dad”.  I saw the full film when I went to the RCA open day.  Armitage, similar to Hannah Jacobs, uses placement of colour, detail and movement to highlight the importance of characters.  The style of this animation is really inspirational as the movement and abstract scenes such as the english flags morphing back into characters or settings is  something I have been playing around with in my current animation, along with his use of chaotic crowds to depict stressful or even violent situations.  This sort of technique in animation can be crucial to the build up of intensity and the creation of an environment within the animation.  As intensity builds the movements and pencil markings become more frantic and untamed.
