i was rereading the headcanons and i saw the one where Mumbo and Scar like to bundle Grian up to watch him fall asleep AND the one where once Grian felt comfortable enough to prank him they "totally didn't cry"

so what i'm saying is: the first time Grian falls asleep in front of Mumbo and Scar, there are undeniably tears. I know you probably already thought of this but it hit me like a truck-

just,,, falling asleep in front of someone is so soft,, he trusts them not to hurt him,, to protect him,, they make him comfortable enough to fall asleep....

the amount of trust that scar and mumbo have built up with grian at that point is absolutely insane. because even without knowing the full details of grian’s past, you know that he is someone who doesn’t trust at all. he doesn’t let people close to him.

and yet, here comes scar and mumbo, two people who worm their way into grian’s defenses and teach him that humanity isn’t just cruelty, it’s kindness and gentleness. and every time I think about that I wail just a little bit.

For one thing, he plays around with flint and steel more- something about the spark draws him in. Sure, explosions and fire have always fascinated him, but it's different now.

He's also much more fire and blast proof. Not perfectly, but the evidence is there.

His encounters with mobs end a lot more... explosively. Whatever brain cell that told him to back down from fights against mobs he wouldn't win has left. Sorta like a creeper targeting a player it will definitely lose to. And if he happens to explode upon death, a quick respawn not quite fixing his singed hair or the smell of smoke- well, he probably had TNT on him, right? Luckily, he doesn't lose his items in the blast, so he brushes it off. In fact, it's not until he sneezes and promptly causes an explosion (he doesn't die from this one, is he getting more blast-resistant?) that he realizes something might be off.

Just Doc sitting at a desk, working on plans for redstone or smth with Grian on his lap, the perfect little cock warmer, begging for more while Doc just ignores him.

He occasionally leans forward in a way that hits even deeper just to hear Grian whine and feel him squirm. And, well, it's not much later that Grian is pressed against the desk while Doc wrecks him.

The entire home smelt of a concoction of foods, wafting through the corridors and into Impulse’s room. Pearl was running around, creating soup after soup with various ingredients.

“I don’t think suspicious strew number 43 is going to work,” he chuckled tiredly. He blew the steam away before he brought the bowl to his lips. This one had an Azure Bluet.

After he sipped, he opened his eyes to find himself looking into complete darkness.

“Nope, I’m blind,” he called out.

Pearl mumbled something under her breath as she made her way back to the kitchen, making a ruckus with the wooden bowls and plants. It was very sweet that she took the time to come over and help the other whilst he was unwell.

Her efforts where with the best intention, but everything she whipped up either made it worse or gave him a random non-helpful effect. Impulse had tried a few times to let the woman know that he would be ok drinking some water and having a rest, but she insisted she could help. With that, he thought better than to fight her more on the matter, eating whatever she threw at him.
