Congrats @sherlockig for these BANGER tags on a wall-e post
Cause this absolutely deserves to be a gentlebeard au
There is space here.
There is space here,
From the tip of my fingers to the breath of G-d
Let there be light.
There is space in-between and all around,
For you and I and him and her and all.
One breath and suddenly the stars are closer,
Exhale and the sun has risen,
Blink and the world is gone.
There is space here to:
Create, love, dance, laugh, explore, live.
There is space out there,
Where time flows in directions unknown,
And where life still exists.
There is space here:
In my heart, of course.

How cooped up are you feeling right now? You’re probably trying to figure out when we’re all going to be able to get back to traveling. Me too. In the meantime, many organizations around the world have created virtual tours. These tours range from National Parks to the Great Wall of China and the views of the Northern Lights. Here are some great tours you can take from the comfort of your own home.
Take a Safari!
Explore.org has a series of live webcams set up all over the world. There are over 90 live cams set up so you can explore the seas, take a safari, or just watch an eagle in its natural habitat. For example, this link will take you to the Tembe Elephant Park and bring you to a water hole where you can see groups of elephants hanging out.
Don’t care for elephants? You can watch panda bears playing at the Wolong Grove Panda Yard or polar bear cubs playing at the Ouwehand Zoo in the Netherlands. There are a ton of options on this website from zoos to aquariums and natural habitats which are not only great for animal lovers but for kids too. Teachers can utilize this website as additional teaching tools as well. I’ve been mesmerized by the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Shark Lagoon.
Explore a National Park
Yellowstone Geothermic Pools
Mount Rushmore, South Dakota
Death Valley, Nevada
Yosemite, California
I have been fortunate enough to explore quite a few of our national parks. The National Park Foundation started posting virtual visits and field trips so that we can still access the parks! The field trips are set up so that teachers and parents have more resources to work with from home. Some of the parks have live webcams set up as well. If you go to the National Park Foundation website there is a list of national parks and historic sites that are operating virtual tours, field trips, or live webcams.
These tours are fantastic. I’ve taken a few of the Yellowstone tours and it transported me back to when I was exploring the park myself two years ago. Here are some of the parks with virtual tours/field trips available.
Yellowstone National Park, Montana/Wyoming
Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska
Virginia Islands National Park, St. John’s Virgin Islands
Channel Islands National Park, California
Explore space…
Just because you are an adult doesn’t mean you can’t still take a field trip. Nasa has been setting up virtual field trips for a while and while we’re in isolation children aren’t the only ones who can now explore NASA.
There are so many great topics and places you can explore on the NASA website. They have apps, podcasts, and ringtones you can download. They also have live cams you can watch of outer space. Go to NASA.gov to view all of their offerings.
Kennedy Space Center is also hosting virtual tours of its facility and virtual field trips. They also have some virtual reality apps for those who are in the VR world.
Explore Art and Culture
Harlech Castle, Wales
Gingerbread Exhibition, Stockholm, Sweden
Trinity College Library, Dublin
I have been living on Google’s Arts and Culture app. There are so many tours available on this site you will be spoilt for choice. From virtual tours of art galleries to museums and educational institutions are available. They also have tours of landmarks and national parks!
Many cultural institutions have posted virtual tours of their galleries in order to satiate the museum lover. Here are some of the tours you can take.
The British Museum, London
Musee d’Orsay, Paris
Pergamon Museum, Berlin
MASP, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
What are some of your favorites?
There are so many more virtual tours you can take. Instead of feeling trapped use this as a time to plan your next great adventure. Using these virtual tours you can plan out your next trip and get excited for when you can explore these places in person. Let me know some of your favorites in the comments.
Until next time.
