@exploratorymuses || Mikaele Salesa & Elias Bouchard
It was another day, another deal, this time with the Magnus Institute—they were basically his biggest buyers, after all. the spooky and mysterious company was one of Salesa’s first called when he had something good on hand.
Today, it was a rather big box for a rather small object. Salesa sat the box down with a soft grunt, prosthetic leg pinching slightly at his thigh as he let go and straightened back up. Then he was popping the box open, and there it was—a little blown glass figure. It was strange, caught somewhere between a human and a spider with long, spindly limbs. Salesa was careful as he lifted it and sat it on Elias’ desk.
“According to the locals, it’s got something nasty trapped inside it, but it still manages to get out on the new moon. I was wondering if you were interested in containing it,” he said, turning to dig some papers out of the box. It was all the information he had on it, which wasn’t a lot, when the assistant came rushing in.
“Mr. Bouchard! I need you to sign these forms so I can pass them off to—“ the poor bastard didn’t even get to finish. As he came up to the desk and dropped the files, oblivious of the danger lurking inside the glass, the force sent it toppling over the edge.
Delicate limbs shattered, and as they did, long tendrils lashed out from the figurine. Salesa had enough time to take a half step back. They wrapped around the assistant, and before anyone had time to do anything further, ripped him into pieces. Blood pooled on the ground, organs dropped out of the open body cavity, and the poor man had enough time to gape, to open and close his mouth one last time—no, make that two last times—like a dying fish before he was still, eyes cold and lifeless like glass.
The creature with skittering across the floor on long limbs, scrambling off through the door into the rest of the institute. Salesa, for all he was worth, blinked once with blood splashed across his face in a red strike, and looked over at Elias. He took a breath. Two. Sighed.
