what i do have an issue with regarding ai, is the fact it’s absolutely killing the planet at an alarming rate (but so is coal power. so is “vegan leather” and fast fashion. ai isnt the only thing doing that). fresh water is poisoned, cities put their citizens on water and electricity rations while making them pay the extra cost for the endless supply to the data centers. the data centers are intentionally build in poorer, rural, sometimes black neighborhoods because they do not care about the bottom 99%. there’s a neighborhood two cities over from me that’s currently trying to shoot down a data centers because it would genuinely kill everyone in that town. but the city council is taking bribes from the companies, and thats the case all over the country right now.

the ai bots are full of false information, which can lead to people unintentionally harming themselves because theyre misinformed. i dont like how its being shoved into every crack possible, how every company expects you to use and love their LLM so they can make it profitable. we can already see that theyre not profiting, there’s currently debt being hidden in shell companies in an Enron-style scheme to avoid one company holding trillions of dollars worth of debt.

the data centers are driving up prices in every computer component, making technology completely inaccessible for someone wanting to, for instance, build their own computer. thus forcing you to buy their computer, which theyre pumping full of spyware. we’ve already seen microsoft is using copilot to monitor users screens and keystrokes
