Insanity
This is just to clarify a few things about the way I handle Wade's crazy.
So, in general, it is canonically accepted that he's a bit (a hell of a lot) insane. And I do tend to stick to this when I can.
But it isn't always obvious, and I'm going to explain why.
So, when I first flirted with this character I was thinking about the best ways I could portray him like he is in the comic, but also as a (mostly) human whose sole purpose isn't always to entertain.
What I came up with was the idea that Wade is, most certainly, annoying as hell, but the crazy comes and goes.
The most common deciding factor in this is who he's with. There are certain people who bring out the sanity in him and, alternatively, there are some that trigger the insanity.
But, like most things in life, it isn't concrete.
He can be perfectly agreeable with a person one day and (for whatever reason - be it alcohol, sugar, a bad day, boredom) he can be utterly mental the next.
Even more commonly, he can be acting pretty normal and thinking about attacking children in his head.
I will always do my best to make him fun and entertaining and well written, but if I ever slip I am sorry and I hope to make it up to you in future.
Improbable Island: The New Home.
A blur. It was all a blur. He remembered Rhy'Din, and what life was like there. He remembered that he had been married. However, specifics were not clear. He remembered being in a fight. An intense fight... But... where were his weapons?
He rose to his feet in the middle of open plains, wearing nothing, armed with nothing, and with nothing around him. What happened in the fight? Did he lose, get robbed, and dumped in the wilderness? Why would they not have killed him? Who had he been fighting?
He wandered to the nearest town, and when greeted, he was asked for his name. Apparently there was another Dorian in the town already, and ... they weren't allowing him to have the name. As if there are so many names in the world that no two people have the same one. What is this place!? Everyone in this town is naked...
NewHome is full of noobs. This was the chant, in song fashion, upon entering the town. What the hell is a noob? What the hell is all this nonsense? Where am I and what is this place!?
A few weeks had passed since his arrival, and not much had changed. Somehow, out in the wilderness, he found his old clothes. Only after putting the dogi, tabi, and flak jacket back on, did some of his memories of the past return. It did not give him any more clarity, though, on what was going on in this place.
