Century Eastern Wonders has been seeing a lot of table time since our first play of it at a convention. After playing it a bit more, we're definite that we like it more than Century Spice Road! We haven't tried "Sand and Sea", the combination of the two games yet. Playing Eastern Wonders as an expansion to Spice Road is something for the future!
Besiege: The Broken Beyond Brings New Chaos
Besiege: The Broken Beyond lasts the beloved physics building into space is out now for the game on Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows. Spiderling Studios keeps finding wild new ways to make gameplay feel fresh. Which is now live on Steam with 88% Very Positive reviews. Besiege: The Broken Beyond is the kind of expansion that sounds like a joke until the rocket ignites. Spiderling Studios has taken its beloved physics building chaos into space, where one bad launch can turn moons, machines, and whole planets into beautiful disaster.
A Tiny Rocket, A Huge Problem
Besiege has always been about bad ideas that somehow work. You build a machine, strap weapons to it, and aim it at a castle. While then the whole thing folds in half and explodes. That physics building was already fun. Now Spiderling Studios has asked a much bigger question. What happens when you bolt that same nonsense to rocket boosters and fire it at the stars? That answer is Besiege, The Broken Beyond, which is also the largest expansion so far for the physics building game. For Linux players, that part matters right away. This is not a vague PC launch with Linux left out in the cold. The expansion lists Linux support alongside Steam Deck from day one.
Besiege: The Broken Beyond Goes Full Space Chaos
The Broken Beyond takes Besiege off-world for the first time. The base game gave players medieval war machines and asked them to smash castles. While this expansion trades that ground-level violence for orbit, atmosphere, and deep-space wreckage. Every large object in a level has its own gravity. Planets, moons, and big asteroids can pull on your machine. That means you can jump between asteroids, enter orbit, or use gravity to slingshot around a body. It also means you can mess up in massive ways. A poor launch could shove a moon out of orbit. A bad move could send rocks crashing into each other. One mistake can become a whole chain of space debris. That is very Besiege. It gives you tools, then waits for your confidence to betray you.
Space Flight That Fights Back
This is not just a skybox with stars. Planets have atmospheres, so flight gets messy in a good way. Wings and balloons can create lift. Propellers can work where air exists. Grid fins and parachutes can help slow a dangerous re-entry. That gives the expansion a nice PC tinkering feel. You are not just pressing launch and watching a cutscene. You are building, testing, failing, and rebuilding. Start simple and you can make a terrible rocket. It might fly, spin, or tear itself apart. Stay with it, and the gameplay pushes you toward better machines. Clean takeoffs, stable orbit, and controlled re-entry become real goals. Not because the game talks them up, but because the physics demand it. Performance-focused players should pay attention here. The source confirms major new physics systems, including gravity fields, atmosphere, lift, fuel, and large moving bodies. It does not confirm frame rates, benchmarks, graphics APIs, or Steam Deck verification status. So the smart read is clear. The expansion supports Steam Deck, but exact performance details have not been confirmed in the source.
Besiege: The Broken Beyond Launch Trailer
New Blocks, Fuel, And Better Explosions
The Broken Beyond adds 13 new space-focused blocks in Besiege. The Booster gives your machines rocket propulsion. Control Thrusters and Inertial Steering help with attitude control. Rocket Fins, Grid Fins, and Parachutes add more control during flight and re-entry. Then there is the Blaster. It is a heavy weapon that fires superheated bursts of fuel. That sounds deeply unsafe. Perfect. The bigger shift is fuel management. For the first time, Besiege now asks players to think about resources. You need enough fuel to power boosters and weapons. But more fuel means more mass, and mass Steam alongside the expansion launch, with the base game discounted by 90%. For players, the best news for this physics building is simple. Since this space-bound disaster lab is out now, with support listed right beside the other platforms.
So, I only got a BGG acct this year & this is my 1st forum question. Made a bit of a mess playing Carcassonne with the Summer 4 Seasons tiles this past weekend. Appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on my mess. (Be kind.) Thanks!

Today was an extraordinary day for boardgames. First, I can't believe it BUT...the John D. Clair promo card was triggered!
This is the 7th game of Space Base played with the John D. Claire promo card, & only the 3rd when I've gotten the card. I got it mid-game & it triggered near the end, putting me over for the win!! Above is my board at the time it triggered.
AND...we went to Half Price Books for their 20% off Memorial Day Weekend sale and I found the Ticket to Ride expansion, Poland. This is my first/only map expansion. I have a bunch of different games, but until now, no maps. With the discount it was 15.99. When we opened at home we were startled to discover that all the cards were sleeved!
It's a smaller map than, say, Europe or Northern Lights, but bigger than the TtR city games. We used the train cards and (upgrade) deluxe train sets from TtR. Bonus cards for going to cities outside Poland, with amounts decreasing as players go down the stacks. Fast and fun.
A nice surprise for the holiday weekend!

Picked up some promos recently from the BGG Store. Some we immediately played and some were added to the respective boxes for our next play of those games. Got some good stuff!
Beacon Patrol Discovery tiles. 2 tiles which can be used any time you make a hole (or end up with a hole🤦♀️) which needs either all land or all water to complete. We've played a few times since we got this, but have only managed to use 1 tile in 1 game.
Cafe Baras Equipment mini-expansion. Adds a extra dimension to the game without making radical changes to gameplay or complexity.
Instructions for the Equipment mini-expansion
Oh, btw, I had a spectacular, highest score ever, win in the first game we played with the Equipment expansion...without using any of the new cards in the expansion🤦♀️😆
The 3 promo cards I got, which we haven't yet played with, are on the left: Forest Shuffle Roseate Spoonbill/American Alligator card. This is for the original base game. The card in the middle is Creature Caravan Toadfolk Mayor. This is the second promo card I've gotten for Creature Caravan. The card on the right is for Seti: The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, Gateway to Mars promo card. I dithered about whether to get this card because, unlike the other promos, which are for games we play, and sometimes play often, we haven't yet played Seti. After punching the game's pieces, sorting out and inventorying everything, I felt overwhelmed and intimidated. And the irony is that even though I felt like there was So. Much. Stuff. I got a promo card, which, of course adds to All The Things🤣🤣🤣
