Lori Hinrichsen created this collage on paper in 2021 for our “Expanding Voices: Perspectives on Birding” art show. “Nest (view from inside out)” is displayed along with a second piece, “Across the Miles (View From Outside In).” The two pieces reflect one view from inside looking out, and the other from the outside looking in. “The window became symbolic in so many ways. My perch. The view from my Window prompted a whole series of artwork. The artworks in this show are part of that series and are my perspectives. Whether I am on my couch or in my kayak I take great joy in observing g the natural world. Over the course of the pandemic Laura Fried @lauragfried “worked on a 5 month-long series (watercolor and/or pencil) to get through the isolation be sharing with friends, and meeting other makers in art groups over Zoom. The April (2021) series is comprised of a series of tracings on vellum, one-a-day for each warbler variety, with the commonality that branches connect the birds through the composition.
