eXoSpace Combat Engineer: The Ultimate Space Adventure
eXoSpace Combat Engineer gets ready for spaceship building, battles, with exploration in a game coming to Linux and Steam Deck, as well as Windows PC. Thanks to the ongoing ingenuity of developer Fantastimaker. Which will find its way onto Steam very soon. Alright, strap in. eXoSpace Combat Engineer is about to take off, and itâs not here to play nice. Imagine youâre sitting at the helm of a spaceship you build from scratch, no grids, no rules, just pure creativity, then combat. Pistons snapping, rotators spinning, and thrusters firing. Every piece you slap on could mean survival⌠or a fiery explosion in the vacuum of space. And, you get to hunt down the galaxyâs harshest boss and claim the bounty. Plus, it's all due to evolve into native support.
I do plan to support Linux (including Steam Deck), though this wonât be available at launch on the 15th of this month. I canât provide a timeline for it just yet.
Some players have already managed to get this title running through Proton after ironing out a few minor issues. Since the code is fully cross-platform, it shouldnât be hard for Fantastimaker to ship a native Linux and Steam Deck build, it just hasnât happened yet. eXoSpace Combat Engineer is built in Rust and powered by WGPU for graphics. With its heavy-duty physics, skipping a full game engine turned out to be the perfect choice for this project, especially given the developers software engineering background.

Why eXoSpace Combat Engineer Hits Different
You know how most ship builders stick you on a grid? Forget that. Here, you can bolt your parts together however you want. Go sideways, upside down, spaghetti nonsense, itâs all fair. With hundreds of parts to mess with, such as guns, thrusters, joints, decorations, rare items, youâll lose hours just tinkering. And the combat? Oh, itâs dirty. Every ship breaks apart piece by piece. That means ramming, biting, smashing someoneâs engines clean off, itâs not only allowed, itâs encouraged. Physics isnât just eye candy here, itâs the weapon.
The Journey
Each hyperjump is a gamble. One jump, youâre saving a research station. The next, youâre fighting off bloodthirsty pirates or robbing a poor person just to stock up on fuel. Every mission, every event, is random. No two runs in eXoSpace Combat Engineer play out the same, and that keeps your heart pounding with every leap across the stars. And if the stress of chasing bounties gets too heavy? Switch gears. Sandbox mode is your playground. Build a ridiculous death machine, fine-tune your fleet, or just throw your designs into giant battles for the hell of it. People are already sinking dozens of hours into just this mode alone.
Bonus Content:
Rogue Mode: where death means death. No take-backs. Perfect if youâre into high stakes.
Modding support: build new parts, tweak ship AI, and unleash your creativity.
Steam Workshop: share your masterpieces, steal better ones, and join the community madness.
So, fellow Linux gamers, if youâve ever dreamed of being both an engineer and a space bounty hunter, this is your shot. eXoSpace Combat Engineer isnât just another indie blip on the radarâitâs a galaxy-sized sandbox begging for chaos. Iâll see you out there. Just donât ram my ship, alright?
While this isnât your average âclick and grindâ spaceship building game with combat. eXoSpace Combat Engineer is part wild sandbox, part rogue adventure, and all-out adrenaline.
