#exo inception

Okay, hi everyone haha.  I’m back with another analysis.  T_T oh gosh, I need to stop, it’s ruining my sleep haha.  

Anyways, before you read this post, it’d probably make more sense if you have had watched Inception because I go into a lot of crazy dream stuff like totems, kicks, dreams within dreams, limbos, timing of dreams, and what nots that you will not understand unless you have some knowledge of the movie’s plot.  

So I’ve come to the conclusion that there may be several levels/layers in this dream that EXO is in.  The people’s dreams they are in include: Xiumin, Suho, and Chen (remaining members may also be dreamers).  (In Inception, we had seven members on the team: Arthur: point man, Cobb: extractor, Saito: overseer, Fisher: target, Ariadne: architect, Eames: forger, and Yusuf: chemist, but we were only in four (five if you count limbo) of their dreams:

Yusuf’s Dream is level one: on the street, he’s driving.  it’s raining and he’s in charge of playing the music to notify the team that time is running out and that the kick will happen soon.  He’s  also supposed to dive the van into the water in the end (EXO Parellel: Xiumin, with his music see chart for more info).  

Then they all go to sleep and we’re in Arthur’s dream (second level) in a hotel like place.  His job is to wait for Yusuf’s signal to do another kick by using the elevator to knock everyone awake.  We see a bunch of slow-motions in these sequences, much like the slow motions we see in a few of the teasers, like Chen’s, Sehun’s…etc. [(EXO Parallel: Chen who see the eclipse closing).]   

Then they fall asleep again, and we’re in Eames’ dream (level three), in a snowy mountain.  His job is to deliver the final kick to wake ALL the people up.  [(EXO Parallel: Suho, who has an alarm to time his kick, and eventually drowns himself to wake himself from the dream).]

We also have the remaining members Baekhyun, D.O., and YiXing who may be dreamers as well.  

Now to explain limbo.  Limbo is a place you go to if you accidentally die in one of the previous levels of dreams.  Saito dies in Inception and Cobb has to eventually go into limbo with him to bring him back or else he’d be asleep for over fifty years because dream time and real time is different.  (Like how sometimes you dream and think two hours have passed but in reality, only ten minutes did).  This may be why there has been so much emphasis with time.  At the end of Chen’s teaser, we hear someone’s heartbeat end…do you guys think, maybe someone died and went into limbo???

Other things to note, I couldn’t really find anything to connect Tao with the group so I believe Baekhyun may be a dreamer…since Tao did destroy the lights in his room?  And Tao’s ring is also black.  So maybe Baekhyun needs to appear to give him light...Another thing is I don’t know what role Kai has.  He seems as if he’s in the real world because as the members are slowly waking up now, we’re starting to hear background noises from his teaser leak into Chen’s (a.k.a. the sirens in the first six seconds of both teasers) as well as the references to Overdose in both [also note that Kai was the first person and also the last person we saw in Overdose…so maybe his teleportation power got him out of the maze while everyone fell asleep or something.  Idk.  But here are the connections to Overdose.

Also, remember YiXing was the one lying on the ground as Kyungsoo pours the sand?  Hmm…I feel like it connects to all of this…

Also, my theory with flight.  You can read it here: Analysis on Suho’s teaser, which may still happen considering that background sounds are all starting to morph into one another.  If you didn’t know, Inception begins on an airplane in flight.  All the members fall asleep on a plane to begin their mission.  Kai’s teaser ended with a crow flying.  Do you guys think he may be timing them in reality?

taosie added that there may be a chance that everyone is actually in Jongin’s dream because the spying reminds us of when projectile subconscious security came after the dreamer in Inception!!!

Again, all theories are mine and if you don’t agree ;] perfectly fine.  I tried to figure out the time stuff but got so confused.  So I’m opened to discussions.  My brain is swelling oh dear.  Haha.  

I think Baekhyun will be next though.  Idk where.  I just feel like it wouldn’t be Kyungsoo and YiXing because they connect with Kai’s memories of the Overdose MV.

ADDED AND REVISED THEORY after Baekhyun’s teaser.  As predicted, Baekhyun’s teaser was next and he doesn’t have a ring either, which accordingly to the theory would mean he’s a dreamer.  And just as I mentioned yesterday, Tao and his teasers did match with the flickering lights.  We also see the crows from the end of Kai’s teaser return for the beginning of Baekhyun’s.  WE’RE SO, SO CLOSE TO COMEBACK.  DO YOU GUYS FEEL IT!?!?!  

I also switched Suho and Chen around for the layers because I realized that Chen’s teaser came after Suho’s not because it was a deeper level but because they’re all starting to wake up.  So the order of the dream within a dream should be Kai -> Baek -> Xiumin -> Chen -> Suho then as Suho’s kick happens it goes back to -> Chen -> Xiumin -> Baek -> Kai but of course because these are teasers, they wouldn’t repeat members (bolded the order we actually saw).  Am I making sense?  

So some other things I notice as well is that I think they had a mission (maybe it was to retrieve Kris and Luhan) but after Sehun investigates, he realizes that it’s impossible.  Time is running out.  Suho realizes that the mission failed and with a heavy heart, decides that they must continue without Kris and Luhan.  Why do I think that?  The “2 days” that we had to wait between Sehun and Suho’s teaser is important.  I think that was kinda a moment of silence for the two lost members.  As Suho wakes up, we “return” back to Chen’s dream and he realized that their leader has decided that the ten members must pull out of the mission as to not sacrifice themselves since Kris and Luhan are no longer “alive” (why the heartbeat.  I read another EXO-L observed that there was TEN heartbeats, then a dooooot for the endinf of the lifeline).  Chen accepts and supports his leader’s resolve and literary closes the chapter of OVERDOSE that has hurt the band and fandom last year.  REMEMBER YIXING SAYING THAT LAST YEAR WAS BLACK/DARK BUT THIS YEAR WILL BE COLORFUL!?  <<DOESN’T THAT REMIND YOU OF KAI’S TEASER turning for B&W to color?  

 I don’t quite understand Baekhyun’s teaser (though I only watched it twice last night before I went to sleep and i just returned home ><) so will share any additional thoughts about it afterward.
