The Ivy-Clad Silence of St John’s
Content: There is a specific kind of melancholy found in old English churchyards. This postcard of St John’s in the Wilderness, Exmouth, perfectly captures the "Picturesque" ideal—where stone and nature become one.
The church was largely demolished in the 18th century, leaving only the tower and the north aisle behind, eventually earning its evocative "Wilderness" moniker. It remains one of the most atmospheric spots in Devon.
