Executions are a great setting for whump! To wit:
How does whumpee feel leading up to the execution, before it arrives at the location? Dread? Denial?
Why is whumpee being executed?
What physical state is whumpee in? What clothes, what wounds, what last meals (if any for all)?
What does the crowd feel, if there is one? What's the atmosphere? Are they excited to see a villain felled, or does whumpee represent their interests against the executioners?
Which of whumpee's friends are there for its final moments? Which aren't? Do they stage an escape attempt?
Does whumpee get last words? Why or why not?
How is whumpee being executed? Is it painful? What does whumpee feel?
What are whumpee's final thoughts and emotions? What sensations does it feel last, whose eyes does it meet?
Where's the execution site? What does it look like as whumpee is in it? Is this different from normal?
How do the executioners feel about killing whumpee? Reluctant? Gleeful? Solemn? Bored?
What does execution feel like?
Does whumpee go to an afterlife, if applicable, or does the story end with their death? What's the afterlife like?
